Download my buyer’s guide

At this stage I’m assuming that you’ve already downloaded & read my Yamaha pianos buyer’s guide. If not please download that now give it a quick scan and then carry on reading below.

Yamaha U3 or a Yamaha U1?

Use this article to help you decide between a Yamaha U3 or U1. The U3 is more popular as it has a better tone quality particularly in the bass but the U1 is still an excellent piano capable of taking you up to grade 8 and beyond. The U3 is about £500 more expensive than a U1

1970s or 1980s?

Please read this article to help you choose what age of piano to go for

Bright, Medium or Mellow tone?

Please use this article to help you choose between a bright, medium or mellow sound. Most people go for the medium toned pianos and rightly so as a medium tone will suit the vast majority of people’s tastes and styles of music.

You should also spend some time looking at my videos and listening to my MP3 samples below to see if you are drawn to a bright, medium or mellow tone.

Once you’ve made a decision…

Check my Oldham stocklist to see which pianos from my current stocklist match your preferred model/age/sound so that I can then help you make a final choice before proceding with delivery & payment.

Several matching pianos?
If there are several pianos that match your description then I will just choose which of them I feel to be the best of the bunch.

No matching pianos
If there is no perfect match in my stocklist please email me at markgoodwinpianos@gmail.com and I will check my warehouse stock for you instead. I usually have around 10-15 more U1/U3 pianos in the warehouse that are ready and waiting to be moved into my showroom once a piano is sold and delivered.

Payment methods

Pay up front OR on delivery. Your choice
You are very welcome to pay for the piano upfront by cheque (in the post) or bank transfer but in the spirit of providing a “risk free” payment you are also welcome to pay for the piano on delivery with £0 deposit.

Bank transfer on delivery
Account 51086387. Sort 010750. Natwest. Mark Goodwin Pianos Ltd
If paying by bank transfer please action the payment whilst the piano movers are still there and either print out a confirmation or show them the screen showing that you have set up a payment to my bank account.

Cheque
If paying by cheque just hand the cheque to the driver. He won’t have an official receipt with him but he will be happy to handwrite a note saying he has received the payment if you like. That’s up to you, I don’t require the movers to sign receipts, I simply trust my customers and my movers to handle the payments in the agreed way.

Free Delivery exemptions

The vast majority of England, Scotland and Wales qualify for free groundfloor delivery. The remote parts of Scotland are not included but I try to be as generous with this as I can so if you are in any doubt please email markgoodwinpianos@gmail.com and I’ll let you know the situation.

Will it fit?

If you have any concerns about whether the piano will fit through your doorway or around any tight bends please don’t worry as we very very rarely fail to deliver a piano to a customer. Pianos can be very safely tipped on their end to get around any tight corners.

Stairs and Steps

The odd 1, 2 or 3 steps are fine. If you have groups of any more than 3 steps please email photos of them to me at markgoodwinpianos@gmail.com (or text/MMS them to me on 07763 727763) so that I can discuss the delivery with my movers. I always try to get the delivery completed without any delivery charge at all but when the movers need to charge for stairwork I have to pass that charge onto my customers. Straight-forward groundfloor deliveries are always free.
