Comments:

Here are the notes that I jotted down whilst assessing this piano.
The keys are possibly ivory but they may be plastic imitations. The iron frame doesn’t appear to have any of the typical cracks that can sometimes affect Bechstein grands. The pinblock looks to be in excellent condition with no cracks or stress lines. The soundboard looks to be in generally very good condition apart from a couple of cracks that can be dealt with easily during any future restoration work and is not currently have ANY audible affect AT ALL on the sound (see photos). The red felt near the strings indicate that the piano has been restored at some point in the past, this could also explain the excellent condition of the case. The legs and music desk are not original. The lyre block is original but the vertical supports that sit on top are not. These unoriginal parts can all be replaced relatively cheaply with replica parts that look just like the originals. The case is generally in excellent condition for the age with just an occasional scratch and there is an area where the veneer is swollen on the left side. See photos for more details.

The damping is good. The tone is nice and bright all the way to the top of the keyboard. The piano has excellent sustain and resonance indicating a healthy soundboard. This piano is awaiting full restoration and the current price is “as is”. The restored price will likely be around £12,000
