Comments:

The basic summary of this piano is that it look a bit tatty (scratches & scuffs here and there) but it feels and sounds like a good quality piano – which it is, and at 6ft 2in long this piano is a very good choice for going in the home – any smaller than this and you can start to lose some sound quality, any bigger and it can start to dominate a room.

I can tell when a piano has something special because I go to take photos of it I end up getting stuck playing the piano for half an hour instead of taking photos and writing down comments. That is what happened whilst photographing this piano – I only wish my repertoire was a little longer though!

The touch is nice and light making it feel easy to play difficult passages of music. The tone is quite charming (for want of a better word) and is stable and well-balanced throughout the whole keyboard. The “sustain” is good which indicates that the soundboard is in good shape. Sustain is when you strike a note and then listen for how long it takes for the note to die away. The tone should stay strong from the very moment you strike the note and should not start to die away for a couple of seconds. In that respect, this piano performs well.

The lowest octave is slightly weaker than the rest of the keyboard but your piano tuner should be able to “bring it out” nicely.

The legs are probably the main let-down of the piano as your eye does tend to notice the scratches (see photos below). There are also some scuff marks and scratches around some of the edges of the piano but all of this can be easily addressed by any piano restorer or furniture repair shop.
