Comments:

At 1929, this is one of the more modern Bechstein grands that I get in stock. It has a nice clean, tidy metal plate which is quite rare to find and the felts are nice and bright – they’ve probably been replaced fairly recently (that’s a good thing by the way). The case is generally in good condition and without too much effort it could be made to look excellent. There are just a few dents and scratches and the edges/corners are slightly scuffed and need tidying up if the visual aspects are important to you. In fact if you need the piano to look great you should probably consider a full repolish.

The piano has a good, lively sound. The tone isnt’ quite as pretty as it should be but it is very much a routine operation to get this back to where it should be.

The soundboard is not a pretty site it has to be said. It has been repaired at some point but the work wasn’t very neat. It functions perfectly well as far as I can tell but it just looks a bit unsightly. Most people will never even notice this though, it is only when you start poking your nose right under the lid that you see things like this and seeing as it has no audible effect on the tone you don’t need to attach too much importance to this issue.

I am considering getting this piano renovated myself – just getting the hammers voiced, the action regulated and the case touched up so that it is altogether more presentable. I may even put a new set of original style replice legs on because I don’t really care for the straight ones which are currently on the piano. Once the work is done the price has to go up, so if you want it at this price please don’t hang around.
