Comments:

The case condition of this piano is very good apart from 1 area where a piece of decorative wood has chipped off. Refer to the photos to see this damage. This original legs have been retained and are in excellent condition. The original lyre has been retained and is excellent condition. The original music desk has been retained and is in excellent condition. The original ivory keys have been retained and are in excellent condition – only 5 have very minor splits which are barely worth mentioning. None of the keys are chipped.

This Bechstein grand has possibly been restrung at some point in the past. The reason I say this is that the felt that surrounds the strings (in places) doesn’t appear to be the original colour felt that Bechstein would have used. This is no bad thing, all pianos need restringing at some point so you could consider a blessing that this one has probably been restrung once before.

The metal frame does not appear to have any cracks, splits or other structural problems. It is a very healthy piano indeed.

The hammers look good with lots of felt left on them for years of future use. The dampers are in good condition and doing a great job of stopping the string vibrating when the key is released.

The tone sound nice but the piano needs tuning so it was hard to give a full accurate opinion of the tone. But it sounded good when you found a note that was still in tune. I’ll get it tuned soon and will then be able to comment more accurately on the tone.

The pinblock/wrestplank appears to be very healthy also with no cracks or other signs of stress. The soundboard also appears to be very healthy with nothing untoward to report. The piano has agraffes throughout the whole keyboard (see photos)

You are welcome to come and view this piano or arrange for a piano technician to come and write a report on it for you.
